Welcome to our Family! We are a family of four building the homestead of our dreams. We have been working on this for 2 years and it has been a very long process. While we wait for our Homestead dream, we are learning old-fashioned skills that we will use on our homestead. Come along and join us on this journey to learn so many skills that have been lost.
Travel bug
We love to travel! Taking off as a family to see what we can find to explore. We love visiting National Parks and make sure to get our Passport books stamped. We love to find out of the way places to visit. Come along with us as we find new places to explore.
Barndominium Build
We are in the process of building our dream Barndominium Home. It has been a long process but follow along as we work through the process of building Mountain Home Homestead on the plot my family has had since the 1940s. We are excited to take this raw piece of land that once had my Great Aunt and Uncle’s cabin until it burned down in the last fire. Follow along as we make this our forever home in the mountains.
Homestead
Oh, the dreams that I have for our Homestead. Our chickens will move with us and a garden will follow the first spring we are there and someday a greenhouse. After that, we will have bunnies, goats, cats, dogs, and many other animals. Maybe even someday my dream of a Horse and a Milk Cow. We want to cultivate a retreat where we can grow as much food as we can for us but also for us to share with Family and Friends. Come along on our journey to take this raw land and make it usable.
Natural Living
Come along as I share what I have learned over the last 17 years about Natural Living. This all started when I was pregnant with Norah. I started to think about products I would use with her starting with Cloth Diapers. This led to breastfeeding and making my own baby food. The more I learned the more I wanted to learn. Essential Oils gave me the ability to take care of my family with more natural things. I learned to make food from scratch and how awful some of our food is. I am learning more and more every day and the more I learn the more I want a homestead. Come along as I share what we do and things that we have chosen to use in our home.
Vehicles
In High School, I had 4 things I was looking for in a husband. Strong Christian, Taller than me, Name at the beginning of the alphabet and He had to love Jeeps. I never knew how much that last thing would change my life. Matt was a vehicle mechanic in the Air Force and so that means that we have lots of cars. He bought me a 1982 Mini Cooper in England and completely redid it. What I didn’t know is that he wanted to put a Honda Engine in it so now we have the coolest Mini ever in my opinion. I loved being a part of picking out all the little details and making it our own. More on this later as well as all the fun things we have done with cars.
Homeschool
Last but not least we share about how we homeschooled our two girls. I will share how we started and all the different things we have done. I am a Special Education Teacher but we decided to homeschool our girls before 2020. Matt is able to stay home and be their teacher and the girls say I am the Principle. We love to teach them so many of the skills that we learned in building our homestead. I am so glad we have been able to make it work and continue to prioritize being together as a family.
